Schlager thrives on big feelings, yet the same old words (Herz, Schmerz, ewig, Rosen, Sternenhimmel…) are everywhere. My job: say the same emotions with new images that still feel instantly Schlager.
Instead of the thousandth “mein Herz schlägt nur für dich,” I look for lines that surprise and stick – vivid, honest, singable.
The hardest part? Convincing composers to let go of the safe clichés. They often fear the audience won’t “get it” right away. But when they finally trust the fresher words, the song suddenly sounds classic and brand-new at once. That’s the magic moment. ♡

I translate songs between German and English with the rare advantage of true mother-tongue feeling in both languages. Born and raised in Germany, I moved to Australia at age eight, grew up bilingual, studied and worked there (even as a TESOL teacher helping others master English), then returned to Germany as an adult. This back-and-forth life means I doesn’t just “know” the languages – I feel every shade, every rhythm, every little emotional twist in both.
The result? Translations that sing naturally and touch the heart exactly the same way the original did – whether it’s the dreamy “Mein Palomino Girl” becoming “My Palomino Girl” or an English pop lyric finding its perfect German soul.

Sometimes people come to me with just a handful of words or a feeling. Sandra, for example, wrote: “Ocean, white sand, palm trees swaying, ice-cold drink, and the happiest love for my partner.” That was all. I close my eyes, let the sun warm my face, hear the waves, taste the salt and the sweet cocktail … and suddenly the words start dancing on their own. A few days later “Days Like This” was born – exactly her love, exactly her picture, but now it sings. That’s what I do: I take your private little dream, keep every colour you gave me, and turn it into a song that feels like it was always yours. ♡

In 1985 seven young singers from Gehrenberg became the Gehrenberspatzen, and forty years, countless concerts, and thousands of kilometers later, their anniversary song “Weit war der Weg” gratefully celebrates the long, beautiful journey of friendship, music, and keeping the promise to sing as long as one heart still needs a song.
Love You," a tender wedding song penned by a devoted mother, captures the heartfelt joy and eternal wishes she holds for her daughter on her special day.
