My Journey to Becoming a Bilingual Lyricist
Hello everyone!
I’m Evelin Vordermeier, and if you’ve ever wondered how I ended up as a bilingual lyricist here in Perth, let me take you back a bit.
It all started in high school, where I had the wonderful privilege of writing a full play for my class — a thrilling first taste of storytelling through words that sparked my lifelong love for creating narratives.
From my teenage years onward, I was writing lyrics: those raw, heartfelt lines about love, dreams, and the ups and downs of growing up. It was my secret outlet, a way to make sense of the world through words and rhythm.
Life took its twists and turns, but the passion never faded. In my later years, I finally gathered the courage to step out and make songwriting my profession, turning what had always been a deep love into something I share with the world.
To grow into this role, I’ve never stopped learning: studying professional lyric writing at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, attending insightful music seminars like Duncan Lorien’s “Understanding of Music,” seeking honest feedback, talking with fellow creators, listening intently to melodies and stories, and honing my skills every step of the way.
This dedication has led to real successes — having my lyrics published and performed by well-known artists. Most recently, I’m thrilled that one of my songs, “Lachen sollte jedes Herz,” has made it to the finals of the prestigious Stauferkrone competition, set for April 2026. It’s moments like these that make the journey so rewarding.
It’s been an incredible adventure, and I’m grateful for every moment that brought me here.
What’s a passion you’ve turned into something more?

With love and lyrics,
Evelin
