The Heart of Lyric Feedback: Collaboration, Respect, and Creative Integrity

Heart and sould of Music
As a lyricist who pours heart, personal experiences, and careful craft into every line, I often get asked: “Can you help with my lyrics?”

Sometimes that means a quick listen or read and subtle suggestions. I enjoy those moments and I’m always happy to offer a few hints or a short opinion.

Other times however, the request goes further. The lyrics that are always “almost there”, suddenly come with the expectation of a full rewrite, with no mention of credit or collaboration. In those cases I usually have to say no, not because of potential royalties (though that matters as well), but because of something deeper.

It’s about respect for time and authenticity. When I rework lines, I infuse them with my own feelings, interpretations, and phrasing. Those elements become part of the song’s soul. If someone later claims the finished piece as solely their own, it feels dishonest, not just to me, but also to themselves. They’re presenting a skill level they haven’t fully earned yet through the process, and they miss out on the real magic of collaboration.

I sincerely believe in teamwork. Many people arrive with a strong initial idea, a raw emotion, or a concept that could very well connect with listeners and artists. When we refine it together, sharing credit fairly, we create something unique that neither of us could have achieved alone. That’s where the breakthrough lives; creative, new angles, stronger hooks, deeper resonance.

So here’s my boundary and invitation:

If you’d like feedback or ideas to elevate what you’ve started → I’m gladly here for you. The work is still completely yours.

If your song needs substantial rewriting or co-creation → let’s talk genuine collaboration with clear, fair credits for everyone involved.

Your voice matters. My time and creative energy matter. When we respect both, we make art that shines and lasts.

I’d love to hear from you if you’re ready to create together, respectfully and with mutual appreciation. ♡

Feel free to reach out.
